Easter Sunday was a loose-limbed kind of day without a definitive start, end or purpose, a bit like last week's writing, just plenty of sitting and reading.
Thank you very much for mentioning The Gardening Mind, Harriet - I’m glad you’re finding it helpful! And oh my goodness, those revision days- this post takes me right back….
It's so helpful, I sit in bed on a Saturday morning with a cup of tea and read snippets out to or show it to my husband while he's trying to complete Worldle! It gives our weekend tending a focus. Thank you!
What a lovely piece, Harriet … love the quiet gentle pride you have in your family and the loving way you weave their stories into yours. Also, love that all your writing is wrapping itself into a coherent whole. Most of all, love ‘investing in you’. Onwards!
Thank you! I woke up the morning after posting this thinking, 'you daft mare, who's interested in you talking about your kids.' but it's hard to write with anything like completeness if I don't weave them into the stories I share.
I reckon all of life’s details go into painting the full picture. Just write what comes to mind, surely. Some folk will stroll on by, and that’s okay, others will linger. I enjoyed peeking in. We chat about the details all the time. It’s nice to include our breadth. Happy - checks what day it is - Thursday.
Thank you, as ever, for sharing your thoughts. Jesus Christ Superstar is an epic piece, the soundtrack is great. Our middle one was in a school production a few years ago, I loved it. I used to find Easter was the one time a year I felt anything like homesick for Southampton and Easters of past years. Churchwise my order of preference was (is) Maundy Thursday and the Easter vigil top, Easter Sunday next and the Good Friday (cross veneration...?). Your youngest sounds like she'll be more than fine come the summer. Say hi to Andy from me.
I think the first time I saw Jesus Christ Superstar was at the Bristol Hippodrome with the Trevetts and possibly Kinger & Nixse so that dates it! The second time was at Bradford Alhambra December 2023 and the Tim Minchin one was shown at the cinema last month. It is a classic! It's funny, but maybe not that surprising when we think about the things that make us homesick. Andy says hello back, hope you, Jo and the family are well.
