Just so gorgeous Harriet. I didn’t know your mum was an artist …your words really made me think about what it is to lead a creative life..your mum was clearly so engaged with her work despite not sharing it and that has so much beauty and merit in it. Thank you❤️❤️❤️

Thank you! It was quite phenomenal. seeing the entirety of her work displayed at her funeral. So many close friends recognising themselves in sketches they hadn't realised she'd done. It was also interesting seeing sketchbooks from her art school days - they were so different from anything else she produced. It's made me think a lot about the whole sharing our work vs creating for ourselves conversation.

I've never been to the Summer Exhibition, but must make a point of it next year! Loved your reflections, Harriet.

Lovely to hear about the glory that is the Summer Exhibition. I love the RA & have a claim to fame here. One of my ancestors was Sir Frank Dicksee, pre-Raphaelite painter and president of the RA!

The parallels between art and writing and that sharing it with others is so striking. I admit that I really don't think about sending mine out, until after I hit publish. I think I filled myself into the belief that nobody will actually read it anyway, and there's always surprise when someone comments. Keep sending your words into the world, Harriet!

It was weird because since starting to 'write' I've been conscious of the parallels with mum and her art but there was something about recording the audio this morning that made it even more striking. It's funny because I always assume no one will read it and yet I still wind myself up about sending the words out
