Why I love writing for creatives
It's the perfect way to blend my love of writing with helping creatives to showcase their brilliance and nurture relationships with their all-important communities
From interior designers and garden designers to artists and sewing studios and more, I love working with creative people. I love helping them to find their voice, communicate with clarity and confidence so that they can showcase their brilliance, nurture relationships and build their businesses. From email newsletters and founder stories to case studies and social media posts as well as all-round communication guidance and advice, I’m the extra pair of hands that takes writing off your to-do list giving you more time to do what you do best, create.
Writing can look deceptively simple but we've all had those staring at a blank page moments, haven't we? Whether that's because you don't know where to start, the words won't put themselves in the right order or you're just overwhelmed with ideas, not to mention everything else on the to-do list.
Luckily, wrangling with words and finding a way to get them on to paper or screen is my happy place. I'm also pretty unflappable. A reliably safe pair of hands, happy to get stuck in and do what's needed to help keep the words and content flowing, making your life easier.
“I contacted Harriet as I felt I was too far entrenched in the project I was working on to be able to write about it and make sense! Harriet absorbed all the information and created a master document which I can adapt for different purposes, extracting shorter or longer parts of it depending on what I need it for.
She created the text with a lot of thought and care, and I was very impressed at how she managed to come up with a clear way of expressing the concepts without compromising on the complexity of the ideas.
I have never worked with a professional writer before and it was a relief to be able to hand it over to someone else to shape into something more readable, comprehensible, and persuasive. I am very grateful to her!”

Why writing?
I had a lightbulb moment a few years after graduating, realising that I could earn a living from doing what I love – working with words and people. First off that meant communication roles in large corporates like Whitbread, Lloyds TSB and AXA. I learned a huge amount including the importance of knowing your audience and writing like a human being, no matter the size of the organisation or the message.
Behind all those corporate announcements and communication strategies was a desire to work with people in a more human way, helping others to find their words. This included jobs like becoming a reading coach with Read Easy and a Special Education Needs teaching assistant whilst picking up ad hoc writing projects along the way.
Now I'm blending all that expertise and experience into writing for creatives in Yorkshire and further afield.
If you want to find out how my writing will bring a fresh blast of Yorkshire air to your content, please give me a call, I'd love to hear from you.
